Compilation des sessions enregistrées entre 1968 et 1972 à la BBC, de ses débuts jusqu’a Ziggy stardust, Bowie sélectionne ici ses propres morceaux sur 2 albums en 2000 .
La version CD délivre un plus : un concert enregistré le 27 juin 2000 au Portland BBC Radio Theatre.

Ces enregistrements provenant pour la plupart des programmes « Sound’s of the 70’s » de la radio nous donnent de nouvelles versions des compos de son début de carrière, entre studio et live.
Même si le son n’est pas toujours au rendez-vous, ces sessions illuminent à nouveau le talent de Bowie sous d’autres perspectives… Magistral ! Ocollus

Bowie at the Beeb est un album de compilation de l’auteur-compositeur-interprète anglais David Bowie, sorti pour la première fois en 2000. À l’origine, il s’agissait d’un coffret de trois CD, le troisième CD bonus étant un enregistrement en direct réalisé le 27 juin 2000 au Portland BBC Radio Theatre. Les éditions ultérieures ne contiennent que les deux premiers CD. Le disque bonus a également été publié sous la forme d’un CD séparé intitulé BBC Radio Theatre, London, June 27, 2000.

Les sorties
Le premier pressage a inclus par erreur la deuxième version (disque 2, piste 13) de la chanson « Ziggy Stardust » deux fois sur le disque 2, sans la première version (disque 2, piste 5). EMI a refusé d’envoyer aux clients des disques de remplacement corrigés, préférant envoyer des CD d’une seule chanson de la première version.

Cette compilation contient également une chanson inédite, « Looking for a Friend » (disque 1, piste 15), dont John Peel avait dit qu’elle sortirait en single chez Arnold Corns. Le single a été annulé par la suite.

Les morceaux live enregistrés en juin 2000, inclus dans ce coffret sur le disque bonus, ont été remasterisés et réédités en 2021 dans le coffret Brilliant Adventure (1992-2001), et ont également été étendus pour inclure la liste complète des morceaux live sur 2 CD ; la sortie originale était un disque unique et représentait un enregistrement édité du spectacle. wikipedia
